Description
Wet its beak and this duck keeps rocking until the liquid is gone. What strange force propels the drinking bird? Thermodynamics!
So how does the bird really work? As the water evaporates off the spongy head of the bird, it cools the air inside the bird's body. When the air cools, it condenses. The liquid in the base of the bird then fills out the space made in the body by the condensing air. This draws the liquid up the tube and into the birds head. This results in most of the liquid being in the bird's head and imbalances it. Thus the bird dips to take a 'drink'. When it tips over the liquid goes back into the body of the bird, and if a glass of water is in front of the bird the spongy head will soak up more water. Then the process repeats! As long as the bird has water to 'drink' it will go indefinitely! For ages 8+.
NOTE: Color of bird liquid may vary.
