A first surface mirror is an optical grade mirror has its mirror coating on the front of the glass, unlike most common day-to-day mirrors which have their mirror coating behind the glass. This results in improved images with no double-images, distortions, and increased reflectivity. The trade-off is that first surface mirrors are much more vulnerable to having their coatings damaged and must be handled and stored with care. This mirror ships with a nitting cover on the mirrored surface that should be removed prior to usage. The mirror is square, 30mm x 30mm and 2mm thick. Used in optical experiments, projections systems, and other uses.
